Richard P. "Dick" Muny, 76, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, May 16th after a short battle with Glioblastoma cancer. Born in Cleveland in 1940, Mr. Muny was a long time Lake County resident, living in Erie, Pa and Voorschoten, The Netherlands before moving to Painesville Twp. and Kirtland Hills.

Mr. Muny graduated from Shaw High School in 1958 and graduated from Westminster College in 1963 with a BS in Chemistry. Most of his professional career was spent in the adhesives industry where he led R&D teams at Lord Corporation, in Erie, PA and Avery Dennison in Painesville, Oh and The Netherlands, before starting his own business, Chemsultants Intl. Inc. in Mentor, Oh in 1986. Mr. Muny was proud of his many patents and spin off companies, but more proud of the business that included his wife and children, and longtime employees that were all part of the family. He was a past member of Jaycees, Gyro, the Painesville Twp. School Board where he was a past President, the Lake County Historical Society where he was the current President, Big Brothers, Civil War Roundtable, the NEO Model A Club and the Celtics of Shaw High. Dick had a big heart, quick wit and sharp mind. He loved puns and poetry, and his hobbies included travel, woodworking, history, and collecting antique guns, beer steins and red Porsches. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Judith (Williams); children, Keith (Sandra) Muny, and Jennifer Muny; grandchildren, Sara, Rachel and Abigail Muny. He was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Evelyn Muny.

The family will receive friends from 2-6 p.m. Saturday May 27, 2017 at the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060.

A celebration of life and memorial service will be held on Sunday May 28, 2017 beginning at 11 a.m. at the Moreland Mansion, 7800 Clocktower Dr., Kirtland, OH 44094.

A reception will follow the service at the Moreland Mansion on Sunday.

Private family inurnment will be held at a later date at Mentor Cemetery.
