Phyllis E. "Mum" Lewis, 89 of Mentor, formerly of Sagamore Hills and Seneca, PA., passed away peacefully Sunday, March 12, 2017 at Lake West Medical Center in Willoughby, OH after spending a beautiful afternoon surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 30, 1927 in Oil City, PA.

Phyllis was committed to her family and highly involved with the community. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Macedonia and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Brecksville Chapter. She was also a member of the Mentor Senior Center Chair Volleyball Team.

Phyllis was a graduate of Grove City College and Clarion State College in Pennsylvania. During her working years, she worked as an assistant for a doctor's office and for a dental office. She was an English teacher and prior to her retirement, she worked as an account clerk at Nycol Credit Union.

She was also an avid reader and crossword puzzle solver. She enjoyed camping, making crafts and playing instruments such as the dulcimer, French horn, organ and choir bells. Phyllis shared her love of life and making memories with her family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Patty (Dennis) Calhoun, Judith "Judy" (Ray) Willett, Walter J. "Jack" (Kim) Lewis Jr., and Charles E. (Robin) Lewis; grandchildren, Ken Stowe, Misty "Mouse" (Keith) Fox, R. J. Willett, Candice (Dustin Shedlarski) Willett, Matthew (fiancé Phyllis LeMaster) Willett, Walter J. Lewis III, Kyle Lewis, Charles E. "Charlie" (Susie) Lewis Jr. and Jacob "Jake" (Amy) Lewis and great grandchildren, James, Caleb and Aria.

Preceding her in death was her loving husband of "almost 60 years" Walter J. "Jack" Lewis Sr.; parents, Charles and Iva Taylor and brothers, Chuck and Don Taylor.

Arrangements entrusted to the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060. Private family services will be held at a later date.
