Philip H. Sheridan, age 86, of Mentor, passed away July 2, 2017 at Lake West Medical Center in Willoughby. He was born March 22, 1931 in Chicago, IL.

Phil grew up in Chicago and as a young man his life included many adventures, including a solo motorcycle trip to California and time spent working on a Mississippi river boat. The bulk of his professional career he worked for Sears Roebuck as a merchandise manager retiring after 33 years. His time with Sears afforded him the opportunity to travel and he and his family lived in Chicago, IL, Bay City, MI, Grand Rapids, MI and Milwaukee, WI before finally settling in Mentor. He loved the outdoors, enjoying golfing, boating, water skiing, running, hunting and fishing. He also loved to travel with his wife, visiting their son in Hong Kong and touring Thailand, Indonesia, Hawaii, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Ireland, the Caribbean, and much of Canada on separate trips. Mr. Sheridan also served as an officer in the U.S. Army.

Phil was educated and quick-witted and could move easily between playful banter and current events. He loved to host family and friends and when he did the laughter and conversation flowed freely. But above all, Phil was a devout Catholic and family man. He loved his wife Kathy and his family above all, and was fond of saying "Family is everything". Love of family will be his enduring legacy.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Kathy (Beemsterboer); sons Phil (Ann) Sheridan, Mike (Jen) Sheridan and Dan (Kristen) Sheridan; grandchildren Heather, Lauren, Becca, Sophie, Molly, Nora, Maeve, Bridget, Jack and Peter; brother Albert John (Layne) Sheridan; brothers in law Ted (Dorothy) and Simon (Marie) Beemsterboer, and other loving family.
