Joan Marie "Joanie" Huebner died on Monday, May 15 at Altercare of Mentor in Mentor, Ohio. She was born on January 10, 1940, in Cleveland, Ohio, the beloved daughter of Spencer and Blanche DuBay. She was graduated from Mentor High School in 1957.

Joanie retired from the Mentor Public Library, and was an avid reader and great fan of author Stephen King among others. For 22 years she authored a column - "And I Remain Joanie, Then and Now" for the MENTOR MONITOR. She was a book author, "And I Remain", a compendium of her many columns. She was a long-time member of the City of Mentor Community Arts Commission, serving as its Vice Chairman and was Chairman of the Public Relations Committee for the Mentor Fine Arts Foundation.

Joanie was active as a member of the Heritage Republican Club and a member of the Mentor Beautification Commission. She was co-founder, with her husband, of the City of Mentor Memorial Rose Garden; Publicity Chairman for the It's Better in Mentor Festival and the City of Mentor 25th Anniversary Celebration; 10-year volunteer for the PTSA Circus and was inducted into the Circus Hall of Fame in 1998.

Joanie co-owned, with her husband, Mo & Junior's Restaurant in Cleveland Heights and The Reading Corner Bookstore in Tampa, Florida.

Joanie is survived by her beloved husband of 51 years G. Charles (Chuck), daughter Marni Rebecca Tiborsky (Mark), and brother Thomas J. DuBay (Joann). She was preceded in death by her mother Blanche K. DuBay Clarke (nee Ortner) and father Spencer A. DuBay and stepfather J. Wayne Clarke.

A Celebration of Joanie's Life will be held 4-7 pm Friday May 26, 2017 in the Reception Center on the Brunner Campus, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name or in the name of Darby Huebner, her beloved rescue dog, to the Lake Humane Society, 7564 Tyler Blvd #E, Mentor, OH 44060.
