David F. Ballinger, 62, of Kirtland, passed away May 29, 2017. He was born January 18, 1955 in Marion, OH.

Mr. Ballinger was a Physician Assistant for Team Health at St. Vincent Charity Medical Center and other hospitals around the Cleveland area for many years. He graduated from Manchester College in North Manchester, IN, with a bachelor's degree in chemistry, and went to medical school at George Washington University. His Christian faith defined his character. He was a devoted member of the Painesville Church of the Brethren and enjoyed reading the Bible.

He was a Cleveland Indians season ticket holder for 20 years, and this past year, watched his favorite team play a World Series game at home and several spring training games in Arizona. He was a member of Kiwanis. He enjoyed gardening and grew enough summer vegetables to feed the neighborhood. He loved to cook and to host gatherings at his home. He had a great sense of humor, and he worked hard and played hard.

Survivors are his wife of 23 years, Lisa; children, Megan (Robert) Douglass, Brian (Kerry) Ballinger, Nathan (Kayla) Ballinger and Katherine Ballinger. He had two grandchildren, June and Teddy, and another granddaughter on the way. He is also survived by his sister, Kay (John) Reinoehl; brothers, Rex (Jean) Ballinger and Jim (Deb) Ballinger; and many nieces, nephews and other family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Junior and Marion Ballinger, and his brother, Steve Ballinger.

Funeral service will be held 9:30 a.m. Saturday June 3, 2017 at Painesville Church of the Brethren, 10410 Buckeye Rd., Painesville.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060.

In memory of David, memorial contributions may be made to the student scholarship fund at the Ohio Association of Physician Assistants or the Painesville Church of the Brethren.
