Carole A. (Barnes) Sulecki, 80, of Concord Twp., passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on July 22, 2017, at LakeWest Medical Center, following a short illness.

She was born July 6, 1937, in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of Mary Jane Farmer and granddaughter of Mary Connelly.

Carole is survived by her children and their spouses Jerry (Maria) Sulecki, Kevin (Merrycarol) Sulecki, Jim (Louise) Sulecki, Linda (Dan) Oster, and Cindy (Scott) Newman. She also is survived by her beloved grandchildren Leiana Sulecki; Ryan and Kyle Sulecki; Erika and Nathan Sulecki; Derek, Hannah, Kara, and Julia Oster; and Michael, Kevin, and Tessa Newman; and by her former husband, Gerald C. Sulecki.

Carole identified strongly with her Irish heritage, and she aspired especially to the inner strength of her England-born grandmother who helped to raise her. Carole lived nearly her entire adult life in Lake County, in Wickliffe, Willoughby, Mentor, and Concord, raising her family and attending her children's and then her grandchildren's activities and sports events. She loved to laugh and spend time with her many longtime friends over meals, at festivals, and on getaway trips usually over a glass of wine. She enjoyed music, was a whiz with crossword puzzles, and read novels in steady succession. She faithfully followed the ups and downs of local sports teams, was affiliated with the Red Hats, was a long-time parishioner of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Mentor, and retired from JCPenney at Richmond Mall after many successful years of working there. But her children and grandchildren, she often said, were her greatest accomplishment.

Family will accept friends and family from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 26, at the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Avenue, Mentor, OH 44060. A funeral Mass will be held in her honor at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 27, at St. Mary of the Assumption, 8540 Mentor Avenue, Mentor, Ohio 44060. Please meet at the church.
